National Institute Of Pharmaceutical Education And Research (NIPER), Mohali is an autonomous College which awards its own degrees. It was established in the year 1998 by Aegis of the Ministry of Chemicals and Fertiliser. NIPER Mohali campus spans over an area of 130 acres (0.53 km2), near the Punjab Cricket Association Stadium of S.A.S. Nagar (Mohali). It is a fully residential institute offering unmarried as well as married hostel accommodation. In addition, it offers accommodation to the faculty, staff, and visitors.

The institute offers Masters and Ph.D. degrees in pharmaceutical sciences. It is a center for providing excellence for higher education, research, and development in pharmaceutical sciences. National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research, Mohali was ranked Second all over India by the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) of pharmacy ranking in 2019.

NIPER is a part of the 7 schools register under the Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers. This institute was also declared as an ‘Institute of National Importance’ by the Government of India through an ‘Act of Parliament’, announced on 26th June 1998.

NIPER plays an important role in the Human Resource Development for the ever-growing Indian Pharmaceutical industry. NIPER is recognized and acknowledged center by the Pharmacy Council of India (PCI) and is a member of the Association of Indian Universities and Association of Commonwealth Universities.

ADMISSION

ADMISSION PROCESS

  • NIPER conducts national level entrance examinations for admissions to its M.S.(Pharm)/M.Tech/M.Pharm., MBA(Pharm.) and Ph.D. programs.
  • Interested candidates in MBA (Pharmaceutical Management) and the doctoral programs are further called for by personal interview and assessment.
  • The candidates are required to have qualified the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) or Graduate Pharmacy Aptitude Test (GPAT) in a suitable subject area.
  • There are always exceptions allowed but there is always a separate criterion for them.
  • The entrance test usually consists of 170 questions. Out of all these 85 are compulsory and need to be correct in order to be eligible for admission.
  • The qualified candidates will also have to appear for the Personal Interview round.
  • Selection will be made by a mean assessment of all the rounds.
  • For doctoral studies, normally the PI should be having sufficient funding in order to the student, but in case of its absence, a fellowship via the National Eligibility Test conducted by the University Grants Commission or such student support schemes makes the applicant’s case strong and eligible for admission.

PROCEDURE

Students, seeking admission in the courses offered by NIPER, need to follow the below-mentioned steps:

  1. The students can apply online at the official website of the university.
  2. The candidates will have to register before they can proceed to fill in their applications.
  3. The application fees can be paid through Debit/ Credit cards or Net Banking. The fees can also be paid through e-challan also.
  4. E-challan has to be sent to Chairman, NIPER, Balanagar, Hyderabad- 500037, Telangana

ELIGIBILITY

For NIPER PG Medical Admission: Bachelor’s degree with related subjects, passing with at least 60% marks or 6.75 CGPA on a 10-point scale. (55% for SC/ST candidates).

For NIPER Ph.D. Admission: PG Degree in the concerned disciplines with at least 60% marks or 6.75 CGPA on a 10-point scale. (55% for SC/ST candidates)

There is a placement cell in the NIPER, Mohali which is responsible for all the placements of its students. They create opportunities for students who are interested in getting employment right after finishing their education. Major recruiters include Syngene, Dr. Reddys Laboratories, Biocon, etc.

If a student wishes they can register for the interviews and then can visit the campus when the companies arrive for hiring interviews. Or they can set up on-call interviews.

The cell of the Mohali campus is the most distinguished one with the highest level of placements rate. Many students are placed every year with reputed MNCs.
